The
Artist at Work |

How
can I become a successful artist?' is the question most often asked of
Alwyn Crawshaw, and in this book he aims to answer it by describing his
career, how he approaches his painting and the way in which he works. Alwyn Crawshaw paints what he terms 'realistic paintings'. His subjects range in variety from coastal and harbour scenes to equestrian events, railway engines and buildings; but, above all, he is known for his English landscape. The Artist at Work is lavishly illustrated throughout with many of Alwyn Crawshaw's sketches and paintings, showing how he progressed from his early days to the present and includes some paintings that have gained widespread popularity as fine art prints. Each illustration is accompanied by practical information, covering such aspects as the way in which the painting was composed and executed, demonstrating many of the techniques of painting in acrylic colours, oils and watercolours. The special 'Making of a Picture' sections take you through all the processes involved in achieving the results of such successful paintings as Wet and Windy and The Silver Jubilee Fleet Review. The story of an artist at work will be of great value to any painter. It will appeal to those who paint as a hobby, to those who aspire to paint professionally or to those who simply have a love of the arts of painting and drawing. Finally, it provides a unique record of the work of Alwyn Crawshaw. |
